3f520eaa49 Make it possible for protocol handlers to configure how CheckLoadURI should 
treat them via their protocol flags.  Remove the protocol list we used before.

fa69b03848 fix bug 166085 [Assertion constructing about: URIs 
[@nsAboutProtocolHandler:122]] This is a regression fix from the fix
for bug 163225. The assertions never made sense and now they are

e9654a3ac3 bug 40670 [URL: resolution of protocol:/path] checking in the groundwork to have an easy fix if we ever decide to support these kind of deprecated relative urls. For that a new attribute URIType is added to nsIProtocolHandler and its implementations to store some protocol/scheme dependend information to have enough information to allow correct parsing. r=darin@netscape.com sr=rpotts@netscape.com

8d84ef21cf Major fixes to the code that cleans up at the end of an LDAP search and/or when a search has been cancelled. Most visible effect: the throbber should always stop spinning at the end of a search, rather than sometimes lingering on indefinitely. a=r=(not built)

e52529dc5c gave the threading model a good whack. pushed the threading from the callers (eg nsLDAPChannel) down into the XPCOM wrapper code itself, so that the calling code doesn't need to deal with threading directly ( it gets callbacks via nsISupports proxies ) . this allows LDAP code to be written in Javascript without hanging the UI thread of the browser. a=r=(not built)
